Dagga ban goes up in smoke - and so do some cases

The landmark Western Cape High Court's order regarding the private use of dagga applies only to home use and cultivation

Dagga aficionados - users of the intoxicating plant - may now legally grow and consume it in the privacy of their homes, without fear of arrest.  In other words, it’s okay to get high on your own supply. And anyone who has been arrested for using dagga will have their cases stayed until the laws governing the use and ownership of dagga have been brought in line with the constitution, the Western Cape High Court has ruled.
